Sprinklers & beer

the bottles o beer quilt begins to take shape...

Another studio day! - I am less scattered and feel like i've accomplished a thing or two. Although, it feels like my job is getting a bit cramped - i will have to manage my time better and begin to delegate some tasks...

Here is a drawing i would like to recreate in fabric - i think the water droplets will work wonderfully as tiny stitches. this isn't the greatest photo:

Pearls, sapphires and turquois

After making dinner, playing with Sylvie and getting her to bed, I felt like tackling a small project that i could complete in an evening. here are a couple of necklaces.

Color and form

I played around with buckles and buttons. i've been noticing this conglomeration-type collage technique in a lot of advertisements. i know there is a contemporary artist who arranges bits of monochromatic plastic junk into assemblages... this is my homage to him/her

Fabric delivery today. some gorgeous prints from Repro Depot - yummy!

Romanian festival

Here is Sylvie with my nephew Vlad and my sister-in-law Irina. We had a lovely afternoon at St. Mary's. My brother Tom won a little stuffed tiger for Sylvie popping balloons with darts. We ate excellent food - the polenta was other-worldly; toured the church until Sylvie did her best "Damien from The Omen" impersonation.

Goodbye gift

Here is a group drawing for a long-time employee of OH Citizen Action. 19 people participated. I finished it earlier this week, but did not get around to posting it until today...

studio day

Sylvie and i met a friend for dinner yesterday at Melt - we love their delicious food & this mural by Jake Kelly. I see something new every time i look at it. He is a fantastic artist.
I had my second studio day today - reorganized some things in the studio, worked on my 100 bottles o beer on the wall quilt and worked on a picture commissioned by my pal Mark. i had set this down for over a year, but i made some progress today...

something cute and something bad ass

The Wentz family stopped by for a bite to eat and a swim. Much adorability ensued...

i just watched this video by the Dead weather - it reminds me of some arguments i've had. you can skip ahead to 2:00 to see what i mean..

Submersible suit

I love this image - i have been thinking about constructing an entire fetal protection suit- so far, I have only made the helmet - i like the claw hand idea here and the multiple windows in the helmet...

Submersible

Here is a little something i finished this morning - i'm very pleased with it for some reason - it might have something to do with the fact that it came out just how i wanted it to - that doesn't happen all of the time.

BEFORE...AFTER!

Tom and I took a couple of vacation days to work on projects around the house. My studio space is beginning to take shape. Witness the chaos that it once was:

Here is phase one - stay tuned for more developments...

The Bancroft Gallery

The awards were all OK with everyone, so I made my way to another place I love in Cleveland - The Bancroft Gallery. I have been taking stuff here for framing for many years and consider Steve (left) and Bancroft (right) my friends. They do excellent work and have endured my rush jobs innumerable times - with a smile. There is always good conversation and a kitty cat to pet.

Let only the love remain

This image is intended as the Howard M Metzenbaum Ohio Citizen Action award. As you can see, it is a heart, but what might be hard to see is that there are many tiny doors and tiny people embedded in the structure. Thirty-three different people participated in this drawing. I am really happy with the way it turned out. It has to be approved before I take it to the frame shop, So I'm a little apprehensive about how it will be received. We'll find out tomorrow...

Catch up

I'm going to roll out some images of what i've been working on. I had my first studio day at home yesterday. I worked all day long and finished 6 drawings. I consider most of my works drawings. Some have color added, but I don't know if i'd necessarily call them paintings. Here are 4:
