Inspiration

I had this idea about four years ago to make "Third Eye Glasses". I couldn't come up with quite the right combination of materials/look - but after visitng the "Art of the American Indians" show at the Cleveland museum of art, everything clicked when I saw these ceremonial goggles in the exhibit.hope to have these ready to enter into an upcoming show...

Best of CIA

Visited my alma mater for Tina D's crit today. Her project is evolving beautifully. Here I am with CIA faculty Gary Sampson and Tina Cassara - they both had a lot to do with shaping my art practice. They are both very supportive and very wonderful human beings. Thanks.I ran into one of my favorite people from art school days - Molly. She hasn't changed a bit - still a complete original and so very smart.

Cleveland's Cultural persona

Sara asked that I talk to her canvass staff about the "art scene" in Cleveland -I ended up doing a cultural survey of Cleveland art/politics/music/sports - it was a hoot. They reminded me of quite a few things I left out - so there is plenty of room for improvement...

Shirin Nashat at Cleveland Film Fest

Tonight Eileen and I saw an incredible and difficult film, Shirin Nashat's Women Without Men. It was political, personal, universal - there were some scenes i wanted to get lost in and some that i don't want to think about. These images will have a long decay. The special treat was that Shirin was there to answer questions. this picture from my phone does not do her justice. not only is she brilliant and talented - she's gorgeous too: thanks Eileen.

Amazing carbon prints

This eerie print is made by pushing carbon dust through a screen - it's an image of mountaintop removal coal mining. It's by Tina Dujmovic, who has asked me to participate in her BFA committee. I'm so honored! This is amazing work:

Craft hour with the kiddies

There was a baby summit at our house today with my cousins' kids - Winston and Miles; and our buddy Mary Helen. We decorated paper Easter Eggs and made a mess and had fun! Perfect for a rainy day.

Gigantic Baby Quilt

I've thought about how to finish this piece for almost a year now. My solution is to quilt it by hand. What am I doing?! This thing is enormous! it's 65 x 67 inches.

Bad news and Good news

The bad news is that I didn't get into the show at Bay Arts. The surprisingly good news is that my pictures generated a lot of interest and they would like to sell my stuff on a permanent basis. So I am officially represented by a local gallery! Here is Karen, who runs the gallery. She kept the two pictures that I entered in the show and I'll get some more stuff together and drop it off next week. Yippee!!
