a blog about Angela Oster's art, inspiration, and post-experience as a recipient of a Creative Workforce Fellowship from Community Partnership for Arts & Culture
Got a haircut from the sweet and talented Anna at Details Salon in Rocky River. Anna says that they are participating in a project to help clean up the oil spill in the Gulf - an organization called matteroftrust recycles hair into containment booms that soak up oil.
Another word of advice from the Artist as Entrepreneur Institute: "Sit your butt down at an art fair - It's the best focus group you'll ever find" I will heed those words by participating in The Summer Market this July 30 & 31st. Time to generate some inventory...
Between 50-75 people attended a benefit for the North Collinwood Feral Cat Project, a non-profit formed by Debbie Gulyas of Blue Arrow Records, to humanely control the wild cat population in the Waterloo Arts District. Debbie was very pleased with how it went.
Today was the last day of COSE's "Artist as Entrepreneur Istitute". It contained an overwhelming amount of information - extremely useful and worthwhile. I have plans to: register as an LLC with the Sec. of State; get a Federal Tax ID number, get a vendor's liscense; open a separate bank account; write a business plan; etc... Thanks again CPAC!!
My next trick will be a homage to all of the people who smoke in Cuyahoga County. I went to Cheap Tobacco in North Olmstead to get some source imagery. They were very accommodating.
Here are some of the fabulous ladies in my book club. We discussed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, ate snacks, and chatted. I feel lucky to know them all. You really get to know people by their reactions to literature. It's fascinating, really.
I had this idea a while back to do an art series about Animal Revolutionaries - a bunch of angry animals ready to revolt. Maybe it would be a photograph of tiny discarded protest signs after they rioted and were dispersed by the authorities. It's fun to think about. Here is a drawing that I will give to Blue Arrow Records for their Feral Cat Benefit.
First day of Artist as Entrepreneur. Very useful information. Had to bug out early for Tina's big day... Tina's BFA review - she did a fantastic job!! made my nephew a patch for his little league team, sponsored by The Irish Barber in Rocky River - maybe the only barber in town who serves Guinness.
Tom, Sylvie and I met some dear friends at Sterle's Slovenian House. We arrived too early for the polka band, but all Mary Helen and Sylvie needed was an empty stage and dance floor - they barely stopped to eat. Thanks Eileen, for organizing this...
